Sometimes I think you don't have to be a millionaire to profit from cryptocurrencies. Especially when I look at cryptocurrencies with potential that cost less than a dollar — that's where the biggest opportunity lies for long-term investors.
For now, I’m monitoring five projects that are worth keeping on your radar this year. All are available on major exchanges.
VeChain (VET) is a classic. It currently costs around $0.01 and has been a player in the logistics and supply chain industry for years. It collaborates with Walmart China, BMW, and PwC. The cool thing is that it runs on Proof-of-Authority, making it eco-friendly. This year, it’s undergoing a protocol upgrade, which could be an interesting catalyst.
Kaspa (KAS) is more futuristic — its blockDAG technology allows processing of 10 blocks per second. The current price is about $0.03. No premine, full decentralization, traditional PoW. Plans include smart contracts and layer 2 solutions. If you're looking for an alternative to Bitcoin or Ethereum but cheaper, Kaspa stands out.
Cardano (ADA) at $0.26 is still relatively affordable. Researchers like this project because every update undergoes academic review. The Chang Hard Fork has already been implemented, and Hydra Layer 2 is developing. Staking ADA provides passive income. Potential ETF approval in 2026 could drive growth.
Stellar (XLM) specializes in international transfers — now at $0.16. It partners with PayPal and Paxos. Soroban smart contracts are a game-changer. The goal is financial inclusion in Africa, South America, and Asia.
Hedera (HBAR) at $0.09 is something entirely different — Hashgraph instead of blockchain. Hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. The governing council includes Google, IBM, Boeing. A carbon-negative project attracting ESG investors.
Cryptocurrencies with potential like these five can be an interesting way to get into the game without huge capital. Each offers a unique solution, each has institutional backing, and each has a roadmap for 2025-2026. It’s worth keeping an eye on them if you’re planning a long-term play.
