I was just wondering which currency is the least valuable in the world. It’s actually pretty crazy when you look at the numbers.
The Iranian Rial leads this sad ranking. One Rial is worth just 0.000024 dollars—hard to believe people can even buy anything with it. But when you consider the political situation and the sanctions, it’s clear why the currency is so weak.
The Vietnamese Dong is also struggling heavily. Despite Vietnam’s economic growth, export declines and restrictions on investors keep the Dong at around 0.000041 dollars. The Sierra Leone Leone is in a similar situation—the country is dealing with the aftermath of Ebola, and the Leone is extremely weak at 0.000048 dollars per unit.
Which other currency is worth the least? The Laotian Kip and the Indonesian Rupiah are also under pressure. Laos is dealing with high inflation and rising debt, while Indonesia’s Rupiah, despite the country’s large economy, is grappling with inflation worries and fears of a recession.
Overall, it shows that which currency is the least valuable depends heavily on political crises, inflation, and economic problems. These five countries are all under significant pressure.
