Been watching the crypto market get absolutely hammered, and honestly, the reasons why cryptos keep crashing are becoming pretty clear if you look at what's actually happening under the surface.

The numbers are brutal. Over the past few months, we've seen roughly 2 trillion wiped from the market. Bitcoin down around 50%, Ethereum off 62%, and the altcoins getting destroyed even worse - Solana down 68%, Cardano 70%, with some small caps absolutely obliterated at 90% losses. When you see damage at that scale, it's not random. There are real factors at play.

First up, macro headwinds are crushing everything. Bitcoin slipped below 65K recently on tariff uncertainty and broader market volatility. When BTC loses key support levels, the entire crypto market tends to follow. It's like watching dominoes - once Bitcoin weakens, Ethereum and alts rarely hold the line. Investors get nervous in traditional markets and crypto is usually the first thing they cut exposure to.

But it's not just macro stuff. There's actual on-chain activity adding pressure. Vitalik Buterin sold a significant chunk of Ethereum recently - around 1,869 ETH worth roughly 3.67M in 48 hours. Last time he did a sale of that magnitude, the price dropped over 20%. These large visible sales increase anxiety in an already fragile market. When the founder is selling, retail gets spooked.

There's also the insider trading investigation that ZachXBT teased for late February. The uncertainty alone keeps traders cautious. Nobody wants to be holding when bad news drops. On top of that, 317M in token unlocks hit in late February. More supply entering the market, more potential sellers if early holders decide to exit.

What's interesting is how capital is rotating. AI narratives are capturing attention that used to flow into crypto. IBM dropped 13% when Anthropic announced new AI tools, and that's where money is moving. Bitcoin and crypto don't exist in isolation - they're competing for investor capital against whatever the hottest narrative is.

So why are cryptos crashing? It's the combination. Macro uncertainty, large founder sales, insider trading concerns, token unlocks, and competition from AI hype all hitting at once. Bitcoin remains the anchor, but when you stack all these pressures together, it explains the sentiment and the selling. This is the kind of environment where you need patience and a longer time horizon.
