Just realized a lot of people don't know how to update their SASSA bank details properly. If you're on a permanent grant (old age, disability, child grant), you actually can't do this online - you have to go to your nearest SASSA office in person. They'll have you fill out a Payment Method Change Form and you need to bring your ID and recent bank statement (less than 3 months old). The bank has to verify it's actually your account, takes about 21 working days. Pro tip: submit before the 15th of the month or you'll wait another cycle.

For SRD R370 though, it's different - everything's online through their portal. You enter your ID number, they send you an SMS link, and you update your bank details through that secure page. Just remember the account has to be in your name, no joint accounts. If you're changing your phone number for either grant, SRD has an online contact portal where you get an OTP sent to verify. For permanent grants, just call 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office. Honestly the whole system's a bit clunky but at least there's a way to change your banking details now. Anyone else had issues with this?
