Ripple Labs is one of the oldest companies in the industry and is the company behind one of the most popular altcoins – XRP. But the question of whether they should sell their own altcoins on the market to fund operations has caused serious controversy for many years, and now, the discussion has resurfaced, this time emphasizing the huge number of tokens that the company is controlling. “All listed XRP are owned by Ripple, so the total must be the sum of the two numbers. Total XRP owned by Ripple: 48,306,585,931.” A user X pointed out. This indicates that the company is controlling approximately $100 billion worth of tokens used to fund operations and sells a portion of them each month. The person involved in this matter is the Chief Technology Officer of Ripple, David Schwartz, he stated: “This will be true if you do not think that the XRPL margin feature is actually margin. The money in margin is not held by the party that puts the money into margin.” A senior software engineer, Mayuka Vadari, also participated in this matter and said that: “Technically ( and legally ), the escrow funds are held by the network, not Ripple. Yes, those funds will eventually go back to Ripple, but for now, Ripple cannot do anything to access those funds ( or do anything with them ) before the unlock time.” If you find it sounds like a technical term, it might be because it really is one. As the saying goes, “if it walks like a duck…” you know the rest. Ripple Labs will indeed receive these tokens under Escrow conditions, as has been the case for many years.
