Jiangsu releases Urban Development Action Plan: Promoting in-depth integration of 6 cities with the Shanghai Metropolitan Area

The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee news site on the 18th announced the “Action Plan to Promote High-Quality Development of Jiangsu Cities,” issued by the provincial committee and the provincial government. It said that efforts should be made to advance deep integration of the Suzhou–Wuxi–Changzhou metropolitan circle as well as the Nantong, Yancheng, and Taizhou metropolitan circles with the Shanghai metropolitan circle, accelerating the development of Shanghai–Suzhou (Zhou) as a unified urban area. In terms of optimizing a modern urban layout, the Action Plan stated that it will promote a networked, group-based development model for urban agglomerations and metropolitan circles, enhance the international competitiveness of the Yangtze River city cluster and the radiation and driving force of the Nanjing metropolitan circle, and further deepen the integrated development of Ning-Zhen-Yang and the cooperation between Ning and Huai. Advance deep integration of the Suzhou–Wuxi–Changzhou metropolitan circle as well as the Nantong, Yancheng, and Taizhou metropolitan circles with the Shanghai metropolitan circle, accelerating the development of Shanghai–Suzhou (Zhou) as a unified urban area. Enhance the level of Xuzhou as a regional central city, and promote coordinated development among Xuzhou, Suqian, Huai’an, and Lianyungang.
