Japanese media: Cathay Pacific aircraft makes emergency landing at Kansai Airport, no injuries reported
Kyodo News reports that at around 4:24 this morning, a Cathay Pacific 883 flight—a Boeing 777 aircraft flying from Los Angeles to Hong Kong—made an emergency landing at Japan’s Osaka Kansai Airport. According to information from the Kansai Airport Affairs Office of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, none of the 373 passengers and crew on board were injured or reported feeling unwell.
Officials from the ministry and other departments revealed that the flight took off on the afternoon of the 6th. During the flight, the instruments indicated that the engine oil level had dropped, so an emergency was declared. The flight changed its destination to Kansai Airport and landed there. Cathay Pacific is investigating the details. Due to the inspected runway, a departure flight at Kansai Airport was delayed.
