In China, the entire system refuses to admit mistakes in order to maintain stability because the cost of admitting errors is systemic collapse. People often say "admit mistakes and correct them," but in large-scale systems, the logic is completely opposite; this is called the curse of path dependence. When a wrong direction has already incurred huge costs and built countless利益链条, this mistake becomes a "truth" that must be maintained. Admitting mistakes means that everyone profiting from this chain must exit, and the system cannot bear that cost. Therefore, the system tends to favor a bigger mistake to cover up the previous one. This kind of self-destructive maintenance is aimed at delaying the inevitable critical point. Once you understand this, you can grasp the logic behind many absurd behaviors.
