U.S. judge rules Trump not entitled to immunity in 'hush money' case

On December 17th, Jinshi Data reported that on December 16th local time, Judge Juan Mercan of the New York State Supreme Court ruled that President-elect Trump does not enjoy immunity from prosecution in the criminal case of the ‘hush money’. The jury in this case had found him guilty earlier this year. The judge further emphasized that even if there were disputes over the introduction of evidence, it did not affect the judgment of the case, because the evidence showed that Trump was guilty. This case involves Trump’s payment of ‘hush money’ to adult film actresses during the campaign and the fabrication of business records. Trump’s lawyer had previously argued that the conviction should be dismissed due to his presidential status.
