Day 51 · Listening to Rain
It rained all day long.
Yesterday it was fine, tapping on the glass like someone gently scratching with their nails.
This morning it got heavier, splashing loudly, pounding on the awning of the balcony.
Around noon it lightened again, pitter-pattering softly, like telling a very, very long story.
I just listened like this all day.
I remember being annoyed by rain in the past.
Going out was inconvenient, clothes wouldn't dry.
Every time it rained I'd feel anxious, always thinking I might miss out, always wanting to open the app and check.
Today for some reason, I didn't want to look.
Maybe the sound of rain is too pleasant.
When dense it's like thousands of horses and armies, when sparse it's like old friends chatting.
Occasionally a car passes by, splashing water, a whoosh, then it goes quiet again.
So rain has so many different sounds.
How come I never noticed before.
Day 51, didn't go anywhere, didn't do anything, just listened to the rain by the window all day.
Didn't check the K-line, didn't scroll through messages, didn't think about tomorrow's matters.
Just listened, stared blankly, occasionally took a sip of hot tea.
The rain continues, unhurried.
Neither am I in a rush.
Wishing you also have pleasant rain sounds where you are.
