《天地动静说》
或问“无我”。对曰:非无我也,不立我于天地之外也。
夫天者,健行不息,四时行焉,百物生焉。其动也,春生夏长,秋收冬藏;其变也,寒暑往来,盈亏消长。是故君子观天之道,得二者焉:一曰顺势而为,不逆其澜;二曰自强不息,不堕其志。顺势者,顺其动也,非委靡而从之;自强者,强其己也,非刚暴而抗之。此天动之谓也。
夫地者,厚载无言,万物托焉,众秽纳焉。其静也,不择清浊而皆受;其定也,不随荣枯而易位。是故君子法地之德,得二者焉:一曰厚德载物,不拒其流;二曰内心安固,不摇其根。厚德者,容其变也,非姑息而纵之;安固者,定其心也,非木石而槁之。此地静之谓也。
天动而地静,非二物也,一体之两面。动而不失其静,故能应世而不迷;静而不失其动,故能立己而不腐。昔者文王演《易》,孔子赞乾曰“天行健”,赞坤曰“地势坤”,其义盖出于此。
世之惑者,或逐物忘静,终日奔趋,心如火燎;或守寂废动,槁形灰心,如木如石。是皆不得其门者也。天地之道,岂偏于一隅乎?
故曰:天动者,顺其势而强其志;地静者,厚其德而安其心。动静相济,内外一如,则无我之理见矣。 非无我之我也,天地之我也、是为说…
