Been doing some research on Florida real estate lately and wow, the price tags in certain areas are absolutely wild. Turns out Miami and Fort Lauderdale dominate when it comes to the most expensive place to live in Florida - like, half of the state's wealthiest suburbs are clustered around those metros.
Palm Beach is absolutely insane if you're looking at the most expensive place to live in florida - average household income sitting at $356k and typical homes going for over $10 million. Pinecrest is another Miami area gem with homes averaging around $2.4 million. Then you've got places like Lake Butler near Orlando hitting $289k average income, which shows wealth isn't just concentrated on the coast.
What caught my attention is how the most expensive place to live in florida varies by metro. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale area has like 12 of the top 24 wealthiest suburbs - Parkland, Coral Gables, Palmetto Bay, Weston, Palm Beach Gardens, Lighthouse Point, Boca Raton, Jupiter, Cooper City, Wellington all in that region. Meanwhile Orlando has Winter Park and Doctor Phillips as their heavy hitters.
If you're considering moving to Florida's most expensive place to live, you're probably looking at $500k minimum for a decent home, but realistically you need household income well over $150k to be comfortable. The data's from mid-2025 so prices have probably shifted since then, but the regional patterns are pretty clear. Miami area is where the serious money is concentrated.
