In 2013, a programmer posted on Reddit:

"I just received a $20,000 bonus and want to invest some. Does anyone know about Bitcoin?"
At that time, Bitcoin was $13 each.
Enthusiastic netizens eagerly explained: this is revolutionary technology, decentralized, with a limited total supply, and limitless potential in the future.
He was so inspired that he stayed up all night reading the white paper, becoming more and more excited.
On the fourth day, he decided to go all in.
He checked the exchange and saw the price had risen to $22.
He hesitated: "It was just $13 last week, now $22, isn’t that too high?"
Netizens advised him: "Long-term perspective, it’s still cheap."
He hesitated for three more days.
On the seventh day, he finally made up his mind.
Buying price: $44.
Just a few days of hesitation, $20,000 should have bought over 1,500 coins, but in the end, he only bought 450.
What happened next was like a dream.
Bitcoin rose to $120, and he thought: "This is truly revolutionary."
It rose to $230, and he started calculating: "450 coins, worth $100,000 now."
It hit $1,000, and he quit his job.
It reached $2,000, and he posted a thank you: "Thanks to those who advised me back then, you changed my life."
Then, in 2014, the Mentougou incident broke out.
Bitcoin dropped from over $1,000 to $300.
His 450 bitcoins shrank from $900,000 to $130,000.
He clenched his teeth and didn’t sell.
When it fell to $200, he started to panic.
When it dropped to $100, he cut his losses.
Before leaving, he left a message on the forum:
"Decentralization is all a scam, fuck you."
No one saw him again after that.
And if he had held onto those 450 bitcoins today, they would be worth $30 million.
He learned faith in just three months,
but only took three minutes to cut his losses.
Most people in the crypto world have experienced this—believing in a project for two or three years, only to see it crash just days before takeoff.
