On the 22nd local time, a senior Iranian official stated that Iran and the United States still have disagreements on the core issue of lifting sanctions in negotiations to limit Iran’s nuclear program.
The senior Iranian official said that in the previous round of talks, the U.S. side’s proposals regarding the scope of sanctions relief and the implementation mechanism differed significantly from Iran’s demands. Both sides need to develop a timetable for lifting sanctions based on mutual interests and feasibility. Currently, negotiations are still ongoing, and there is a possibility of reaching a temporary agreement.
Iran: Will Never Surrender Control of Oil and Mineral Resources
Iran believes that a diplomatic solution can bring tangible economic benefits to both countries. The official stated that in the economic proposals during negotiations, Iran has opened significant investment opportunities in its oil industry to the U.S., but has made it clear that it will not relinquish control of its oil and mineral resources. “The United States can only become an economic partner to Iran, and its companies can participate in Iran’s oil and gas field development as contractors.”
