Zhongzhi Research Institute: Average rent for main commercial street shops in key cities in the second half of 2025 decreased by 0.81% year-on-year

Zhongzhi Research Institute reports that by 2025, service consumption will maintain rapid growth, especially in cultural and tourism-related spending, with a few city landmarks or commercial streets with cultural and tourism attributes located in core business districts still experiencing relatively stable foot traffic and rents. The growth rate of dining revenue has slowed, and combined with the impact of high-quality shopping centers, most commercial streets are under operational pressure, leading to declining rents. Based on survey data from major commercial street shops in 15 key cities nationwide, using 100 commercial streets as samples, the Rent Index for the Top 100 Commercial Streets (Top Streets) was compiled. In the second half of 2025, the average rent for shops in Top Streets was 24.05 yuan per square meter per day, a month-on-month decrease of 0.47%, with the decline widening by 0.12 percentage points compared to the first half of 2025. The total decline for the year was 0.81%, an increase of 0.39 percentage points compared to the total decline in 2024. (Cailian Press)
