Gelonghui, February 22 — According to Suzhou’s announcement, as the national box office hub, Jiangsu’s film market has continued to lead the country during the Spring Festival period of the Year of the Horse. The Jiangsu Provincial Film Bureau’s preliminary statistics show that from February 17 to February 20, Jiangsu’s box office revenue exceeded 383 million yuan, accounting for 10.4% of the national total; the number of moviegoers exceeded 7.56 million, accounting for 10.03% of the national total. Both metrics rank first nationwide, and Jiangsu is the only province where both box office share and moviegoer share have surpassed 10%.
Looking at the cities, from February 17 to February 20, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Nantong achieved box office revenues of 53.82 million yuan, 43.19 million yuan, and 39.85 million yuan respectively, ranking the top three in the province’s city box office, each with over 10% share. Nationwide, Jiangsu Province demonstrates a “thousand horses galloping” box office trend, with all 13 prefecture-level cities ranking within the top 75 in the national city box office list, and five cities within the top 20: Suzhou at 8th, Nanjing at 11th, Nantong at 13th, Wuxi at 17th, and Yancheng at 19th.
