The European Union Council officially designates the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran as a "terrorist organization"

On the 19th local time, the European Union Council issued a statement stating that, following the political agreement reached by the Foreign Affairs Committee on January 29, the Council officially decided on the same day to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran as a “terrorist organization.” It is understood that after being listed as a “terrorist organization,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran will also be subject to restrictive measures under the EU counter-terrorism sanctions mechanism. These measures include freezing its funds and other financial assets or economic resources within EU member states and prohibiting EU institutions from providing funds and economic resources to the organization. Currently, 13 individuals and 23 groups and entities are subject to these restrictive measures. (CCTV News)
