February's pig farm plans to reduce slaughter volume significantly, increasing daily slaughter pressure

In January, the overall domestic large-scale breeding enterprises slightly exceeded their slaughter plans. The completion of plans varied between the north and south regions. The northern region experienced less pressure to slaughter pigs due to early culling caused by previous African swine fever outbreaks, generally exceeding their planned targets. The southern region had relatively sufficient supply and failed to meet slaughter targets. In February, sample enterprises significantly reduced their slaughter plans, but due to the Spring Festival holiday, the actual slaughter days decreased by about 5 days, leading to a month-on-month increase in theoretical daily slaughter pressure. According to Mysteel’s agricultural product monitoring data, the planned pig slaughter volume for key provinces in February was 12.0586 million head, a sharp month-on-month decrease of 15.33% compared to the actual slaughter in January. Enterprises across various regions generally reduced their planned slaughter volumes, with Henan and Anhui experiencing the most significant declines, both exceeding 26% month-on-month. (Mysteel)
