The TRON developer community has officially released version GreatVoyage-v4.8.1, codenamed Democritus. According to ChainCatcher, this update significantly expands infrastructure deployment possibilities by adding support for ARM64 architecture and compatibility with JDK 17, enabling node operators to utilize more diverse and efficient computing environments.

Democritus Version: Expansion of Deployment Architecture

The main innovation of this version lies in the flexibility of the node deployment environment. Support for ARM64 architecture opens up prospects for energy-efficient processors, while compatibility with JDK 17 ensures developers work with the latest Java tools. These changes are not just incremental updates but a deliberate strategy to make the TRON network more accessible across different deployment infrastructures worldwide.

Ethereum Compatibility Through Instruction Optimization

A key milestone of this update is the adjustment of the SELFDESTRUCT instruction in the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM) to fully align with Ethereum’s EIP-6780 standard. This change removes compatibility barriers between ecosystems, allowing developers to transfer smart contracts between TRON and Ethereum more securely. The synergy between the two networks is strengthened, providing greater flexibility for multi-chain development.

Network Security and Stability Enhancements

At the network infrastructure level, the Democritus update introduces security improvements through intelligent rate limiting of P2P messages, refinement of synchronization logic, and optimization of error codes. These enhancements ensure network stability even under high traffic conditions. Simultaneously, event services, API capabilities, and configuration governance mechanisms have been systematically reviewed to simplify the development experience.

Mandatory Deadline: March 9, 2026

This is not an optional update. The TRON community has set a strict deadline: all nodes and developers must complete synchronization and deployment of Democritus by March 9, 2026, at 23:59 (UTC+8). Meeting this deadline is essential to ensure uniform network synchronization and prevent operational fragmentation.

Continuous Evolution of the TRON Network

The Democritus update demonstrates TRON’s ongoing commitment to performance improvement, governance refinement, and ecosystem compatibility expansion. By broadening deployment architecture options and aligning with Ethereum standards, TRON strategically positions itself to build a more integrated and resilient blockchain ecosystem.
