The China Tourism Association, in collaboration with Tuniu, released the “2026 Spring Festival Tourism Consumption Trend Report,” which shows a clear segmented travel trend during this year’s holiday. The first peak of travel begins after the Little New Year in the south, with the highest point on Valentine’s Day and the first day of the holiday. It is expected that the highest travel peak of this Spring Festival will occur on the second day of the lunar new year (February 18). “Many tourists choose to reunite with family first, experience New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day traditions, then travel together later in the holiday,” said a Tuniu travel official.

At the end of January this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism organized the 2026 National Spring Festival Culture and Tourism Consumption Month, working with relevant departments and supporting units to launch a series of themed activities, quality products, and benefit measures. Various regions have carried out cultural and tourism consumption initiatives during the holiday, including issuing consumer vouchers and other subsidies.

During the consumption month, regions will focus on customs, performances, exhibitions, ice and snow tourism, winter escapes, and family travel, launching a variety of seasonal cultural and tourism products and activities to enhance the consumer experience, increase benefits for the public, and provide more discounts and options for holiday travel. Preliminary statistics indicate that about 30,000 cultural and tourism events will be held nationwide during this period, with over 360 million yuan in consumer vouchers and subsidies distributed, along with measures such as ticket discounts, combined ticket offers, and cross-regional tourism benefits.
