Stop human flesh searches; Google allows users to remove private information such as passports, Social Security numbers, and driver's licenses from search results.

IT Home, February 10 — According to technology media Android Authority today, Google is providing users with more control over privacy search results, allowing them to find and delete sensitive information such as driver’s licenses, Social Security Numbers (SSN, primarily used in tax, social security, and credit reporting), and passport numbers from search results, to some extent helping to curb online harassment and doxxing.

Reportedly, this tool is currently located in the “About Your Search Results” subsection, which previously supported deleting information like email addresses and phone numbers.

At the same time, using this feature is very simple. Users just need to click “Get Started,” then fill in their personal contact information. Google will then scan search results based on the provided details and notify users via app notifications or email about which websites contain related information. Users can then request Google to delete these search results.

However, Google points out that deleting search results does not mean that this sensitive information is completely removed from the internet. Malicious actors can still access the content directly by visiting the web pages or using other search engines. This feature is now available in the United States, with support in other regions coming later.

In addition to personal identification information, Google now also allows users to delete explicit images that were published without authorization. Users can do this by clicking the three-dot menu next to the image in the image search bar, selecting “Remove Result,” and then choosing “This is my explicit image.” After submitting the removal request, Google will also provide links to professional organizations that offer emotional support and legal assistance.
