The U.S. Senate plans to resume discussions on the Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act today.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that U.S. Senate Democrats plan to meet later today to restart discussions on the Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act. This will be one of the most critical meetings since the Senate Banking Committee postponed the bill’s review last month. Supporters of cryptocurrency from the minority party will gather to discuss key issues including ethics and decentralized finance (DeFi), and to determine their stance. As the meeting approaches, Democratic lawmakers and their staff have held multiple consultations with representatives from the cryptocurrency industry in the weeks following the postponement. It is not yet clear whether the agenda will include the issue of stablecoin yields, which is the reason the January rate hike process was halted. Both sides described the cryptocurrency and banking industry meeting held at the White House on Monday as “constructive.” Patrick Witte, Executive Director of the White House Cryptocurrency Committee, said the meeting was “fact-based and solution-oriented,” and expressed confidence that the issue will ultimately be resolved.
