Don't overdo the bragging. People often start to show off themselves, and that's the beginning of disaster. Laozi wrote in the Tao Te Ching: "Glow without dazzling, still water flows deep." The meaning is: when a person is in a good situation, there's no need to overdo the bragging, be modest and humble, and stay calm like flowing water. No matter what position or environment you're in, not showing off, not bragging, and not being arrogant are the ways to protect your own fortune. After all, there may really be people in this world who wish you well, but most people do not want you to be better off than they are.
