The recent developments in the decentralized social track are indeed worth paying attention to. The Base app has shifted from a community-first strategy to a focus on trading features, Lens has been incorporated into Mask Network, and Farcaster has been acquired by Neynar—these changes reflect many projects exploring new directions for development.

Some analysts point out that this round of changes actually exposes the challenges faced by early decentralized social platforms. Relying solely on social features seems insufficient to support the long-term growth of an ecosystem, leading many projects to seek integration with trading and financial attributes. This also explains why some projects have taken the path of acquisition or merger.

Interestingly, it is during this period of chaos and adjustment that new opportunities may emerge. As the demand for the integration of social networks and cryptocurrencies becomes clearer, products and teams that truly understand the intersection of the two may enter a relatively blue ocean phase. In other words, this is not the end of the track, but a redefinition of product forms.

Basically, you still need trading attributes to survive; pure social networking can't sustain this ecosystem. When Lens was acquired, I knew that relying solely on UGC wouldn't work; it needs financial backing. This round of adjustment is actually a good thing, filtering out teams that truly understand how to combine social networking and trading. Wait, could this be another new cycle of hype? I've heard a lot about blue oceans and such. The real opportunities might still be in projects that haven't been noticed yet.

The recent adjustments in the social track have made me a bit numb. To be honest, it's still the product itself that hasn't been thought through clearly. Talking about blue oceans and redefining, but it feels like everyone is just gambling? Anyway, just survive first. There aren't many who can truly understand and master it... The social finance path seems simple, but in practice, everyone is falling into traps. Here we go again with another round of reshuffling. Watching from the sidelines.

Basically, social doesn't make money, so you need some trading features to survive. As for the acquisition, it seems more like finding a good parent to take over... But then again, who can truly integrate social and trading? I haven't seen anything particularly convincing yet. Blue ocean? Ha, those entering now should be mentally prepared.
