Many people say that WAL's cross-chain storage is just data transportation, but this understanding is far from the truth. What they are doing is integrating technological innovations to unify management, efficient access, and consistency verification of multi-chain data. The core framework is divided into three layers; let's break it down.

**Layer 1: Cross-Chain Storage Gateway**

This is the central hub connecting different public chain storage systems. It supports storage protocol adaptation for leading public chains like Ethereum, Sui, and Solana, then converts various data formats into Blob format and stores them in the Walrus network. The most impressive part is the "protocol abstraction"—it shields the technical differences of each public chain's storage protocol. Developers don't need to understand how the underlying storage works; they can simply call APIs to upload, download, and verify data through a unified process.

For example: a developer uploads Ethereum NFT metadata to the gateway, which automatically converts it into Blob format, generates a unique Blob ID, and synchronizes it to both Ethereum and Walrus chains. When an application in the Solana ecosystem wants this data, it can directly request it from the gateway using the Blob ID, and the data is returned instantly. No more dealing with IPFS interfaces. As a result, the development cost for cross-chain data access is reduced by 80%, and the development cycle is shortened by 70%.

**Layer 2: Unified Data Indexing**

The efficiency of multi-chain data retrieval has always been a pain point. WAL has built a unified data indexing system based on Blob IDs, consolidating the indexes of all on-chain data.

Wow, this protocol abstraction is really amazing, reducing development costs by 80% directly?

Wow, an 80% reduction in development costs? Is this data real, or are they just bragging again?

Damn, the protocol abstraction set is really powerful, reducing development costs by directly 80%?

Cut 80% of the costs? That number sounds a bit exaggerated. Has this been used in actual projects?

Hmm, this architecture design does have some substance. I was quite exhausted from the previous fuss with IPFS.
