The story of Farcaster, the Web3 social protocol, has opened a new chapter. Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero announced a major decision — Neynar will acquire and take full control of Farcaster's operations.

In the coming weeks, Farcaster's protocol contracts, code repositories, official applications, and core components like Clanker will gradually be transferred to Neynar. What does this mean? Neynar will be responsible for protocol iterations, code maintenance, developer communication, and will also take on the responsibility of infrastructure operations.

From another perspective, this acquisition somewhat reflects the current state of the social protocol track — building infrastructure and operational costs are significant, and finding a professional partner to take over can allow the protocol to focus on ecosystem development. As the main provider of Farcaster infrastructure, Neynar's upgrade and takeover is a natural progression.

According to my analysis, Farcaster is about to completely dismantle, with the protocol, code, and application all handed over to Neynar? It seems Dan has just run away 😅 Wait, doesn't this just indicate that the social protocol track is too money-burning, and the maintenance costs are unbearable, so they have to find a big sponsor to take over? Basically, it's a disguised way of admitting failure in fundraising. How does on-chain data show interaction between these two wallets? I want to see Neynar's true intentions.

Oh my god, did Neynar directly take over? Now Farcaster has found its community.

Basically, the founders are tired and are passing the baton to the infrastructure layer. This pattern has been seen quite a few times in DAOs—decentralizing power ultimately turns into power transfer, and the game balance suddenly fails.

It's that kind of "strategic partnership" routine again. To put it simply, they can't handle the operational costs anymore.

Another Web3 palace intrigue, Farcaster directly handed over the baton to Neynar. This time, it's truly a complete laydown.
