While companies worldwide race to build super artificial intelligence (ASI) systems with minimal human intervention, Vitalik argues this trajectory overlooks a more promising alternative: augmented AI designed to amplify human cognitive abilities rather than replace human judgment. He pointed out that even if all existing AI safety concerns prove unfounded, the current obsession with fully autonomous systems represents a fundamental misallocation of resources and talent.
