Abstract generation in progress

Have you ever forgotten dormant funds on your trading account? This is exactly what happened to thousands of clients of the South Korean platform Bithumb, which has just made a surprising discovery in its archives.

The numbers that stand out

After an in-depth internal audit, Bithumb uncovered an astonishing situation: approximately 29.16 billion KRW ( equivalent to over $200 million ) in dormant assets are spread across 2.6 million user accounts. Some of these digital wallets have been inactive for an entire decade, while others show astronomical returns exceeding 61,000%.

The most impressive inactive holding alone is valued at around $2.84 million – a substantial sum waiting for its owner for years.

An ongoing restitution initiative

In response to this situation, Bithumb is committed to locating the rightful owners of these forgotten funds. The platform is implementing a systematic notification process to alert the affected clients and guide them in recovering their dormant assets.

This approach reflects a clear intention to strengthen trust with its users and to bolster its reputation for customer protection. By recovering these lost assets, Bithumb helps restore millions of dollars to forgotten wallets.
