Why is it that cutting-edge technologies, such as now’s general AI large models and vertical AI applications, are mostly developed abroad, or that talented Chinese professionals go overseas to work on them?
For example, recently acquired Manus is registered in Singapore, and YouMind is also registered in Singapore. After ByteDance’s success, Zhang Yiming also resides mainly in Singapore (although his nationality has not changed).
Is the domestic innovation environment really that poor? Or are there other reasons? But then how do we explain, for instance, China’s new energy vehicles, electric power technology, shipbuilding industry, and large machinery—these are all world-leading?
I just can’t quite understand this issue!
