Flow blockchain today made a big news. A vulnerability in the execution layer was exploited by hackers, directly causing a $3.9 million hole. What was the result? The FLOW token dropped over 40% within 24 hours. Several platforms, including a major exchange, quickly suspended withdrawal services, and the scene was indeed a bit embarrassing.

Speaking of Flow, it once gained fame with the blockbuster NFT project NBA Top Shot, and was very popular. But during this update, a flaw appeared in the coordination mechanism of the execution layer. Although the foundation responded quickly, the damage had already been done. This incident actually exposed the true picture of the Layer 1 race—an error in logic can wipe out hundreds of millions of dollars in market value.

This should give those chasing high-performance public chains something to think about. Ethereum is indeed expensive and slow, but why do so many people still use it? Security. After more than ten years of market testing, stability is there. Compared to emerging public chains, while we enjoy their high performance, we also have to admit that the risks are indeed higher. So when allocating such assets, it’s best to diversify a bit—don’t put all your eggs in one basket. And when facing black swan events, don’t rush to buy the dip; wait until the official technical audits are completed, then you’ll have more confidence.

Another textbook-level catastrophic loss case... This time, Flow truly exemplified the meaning of "trust" very clearly.

Another story of a logical error destroying the world, I really can't hold it anymore. Is this the fate of new public chains?

I should have known earlier, this move by Flow is a textbook-level "high-performance trap." One bug can ruin years of reputation... Honestly, you still have to trust those old-timers.

Another "high-performance" story, $3.9 million in tuition fees, quite expensive --- Flow really, from top trending to crashing down so quickly, the halo of NBA Top Shot can't save a logical error --- Honestly, looking at this, I am even more convinced that it’s better to be cautious, or else you might get cut one day --- That’s why I will never go all-in on new public chains. Diversifying risk is not about being cowardly; it’s about surviving longer --- Hackers are laughing their heads off looking at this $3.9 million. Layer 1s are still competing over performance, but security remains a shortcoming --- People who bought the dip should be very regretful now. Wait until the audit is complete before speaking; there have been too many lessons learned from bloodshed

$3.9 million is gone just like that, Flow really let us down this time --- Still dare to boast about high performance? Better fix the bugs first --- NBA Top Shot was once very popular, but now, a single vulnerability has brought it back to reality --- Recalling that old saying—new public chains are a gambler's paradise --- I just want to ask, when will the official audit for this be completed—sometime in the Year of the Monkey? --- A 40% drop is considered cheap; I bet it will drop again next week --- Security vs. performance, this trade-off is truly a damn trap --- Not a big problem, just a few hundred million in market cap evaporated, get used to it --- The FOMO traders rushing to buy the dip are probably crying their eyes out now --- Using Flow as a bet, truly a brave choice
