Oh wow, Japan's move kind of understands us.
Losses can be carried forward for three years? Now we finally don't have to suffer a year of heavy losses to death.
However, the NFT part hasn't been finalized yet, feels like they're still debating.

Loss carryforward for three years? Japan's move is pretty good, finally a bit more humane.

Japan's recent moves are indeed quite interesting. The three-year loss carryforward setup is much more friendly to retail investors.
Spot, derivatives, and ETFs are taxed separately, indicating that they have finally realized that not all crypto earnings should be treated equally.
However, NFT and staking are still under discussion, which ironically shows that regulators themselves haven't figured it out yet...
Japan has been relatively quick from regulation to rationalization, surpassing some countries by a long shot.
Finally, a country is taking cryptocurrencies seriously; there's hope now.

Japan, this hand was played well, carrying over losses for three years is really satisfying.
