## Compression sharing continues

On the 18th, Ethereum (ETH) users staked a record high of 35.12 million ETH, accounting for about 29% of the circulating supply of ETH. In just the first half of June, over 500,000 ETH was newly staked, highlighting the long-term holding stance of large investors.

The staking contract that began in November 2020 served as the foundation for Ethereum’s “Merge” upgrade, which transitioned from PoW to PoS. According to developers, this transition reduced the network’s energy consumption by approximately 99%.

The value of staked ETH has reached approximately $89 billion, accounting for over 20% of Ethereum’s market capitalization. Due to supply compression, investors are increasingly inclined to hold rather than trade, and it has also been confirmed that there are a record 22.5 million or more ETH stored in “accumulation addresses” with no selling history.

Moreover, the demand from institutional investors remains strong, with the US Ethereum spot ETF holding approximately $10 billion. Following 19 consecutive days of inflows that ended on the 13th, the ETF’s holdings have reached over 3.28% of ETH’s market capitalization.
