U.S. media: Israel claims Iran is close to producing nuclear weapons, but U.S. intelligence says "it's still a long way off"?

[U.S. media: Israel says Iran is close to building a nuclear bomb, but U.S. intelligence says “it’s still early”? When Israel launched a series of strikes against Iran last week, it also issued a series of serious warnings about the country’s nuclear program, suggesting that Iran is rapidly approaching a point of no turning back on its quest to acquire nuclear weapons, and that strikes are necessary to prevent such an outcome, CNN reported. But according to four people familiar with the matter, U.S. intelligence assessments have come to a different conclusion — not only is Iran not actively seeking to build nuclear weapons, but it is still three years away from being able to produce and launch nuclear weapons at a target of its choice. Despite days of Israeli airstrikes, U.S. intelligence officials now believe Israel may have set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months at most, according to a U.S. official. While Israel has caused significant damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, another fortified uranium enrichment site in Fordor has not actually been affected.
