I spent 17 years in sales trading, and in less than 2 years, I’ve somehow become a full-time public speaker (and gotten quite good at it).

Turns out, it's actually pretty simple.

📝 Write your own scripts. Prepare your own answers.

🚫 Never say something you don't mean and never say something you don't believe.

👯 Don't give a presentation; put on a show.

💡 Give the audience ONE idea to take home. Give them 30, and they'll bring home none.

💤 Stop using a monotone voice like it's a sophomore-year business class presentation.

I enjoyed every moment on stage during hashtag#ConsensusHK. Sure, occasionally I had to toe the party line and hit some required notes, but most of the time, I knew that when I walked on stage, people would go, "Holy — this is refreshing."

There were probably over 700 panels, keynotes, and discussions during Consensus week. Being refreshing should be the bare minimum standard I give to myself.

On to bigger stages somewhere!
