Vietnam Approves Digital Technology Bill: Official Regulation of encryption Assets Starting in 2026

[Chain Text] On June 14, the National Assembly of Vietnam approved the “Digital Technology Industry Law,” which brings digital assets under regulatory oversight. It is reported that this law will take effect on January 1, 2026, recognizing encryption assets and laying the groundwork for broader digital innovation across Vietnam. According to reports, this law classifies digital assets into two categories: virtual assets and encryption assets. While both rely on encryption or digital technology for verification and transfer, neither includes securities, digital fiat currencies, or other financial instruments. Currently, the task of regulatory bodies is to outline the specific business conditions, classification, and supervision mechanisms for these asset types.
