Elon Musk's low Earth orbit satellite network project has now deployed approximately 13,000 satellites. After these devices reach their designed lifespan of 4-5 years, they will use active deorbiting technology to re-enter the atmosphere and burn up, achieving environmentally friendly disposal.

What is the essence of this project? Many people may not be clear about it, as the service has not yet become widespread in all regions.

In short, this is a global internet satellite system that does not rely on traditional ground stations but instead provides network services through satellites in space. This means that as long as you can see the sky, you can access the internet, navigation, and communication functions, whether in deep mountains, deserts, oceans, or remote areas.

Currently, more than 140 countries and regions have opened this service, while Musk continues to launch new satellites, with the ultimate goal of building a global network coverage system consisting of 42,000 satellites.

Why are certain areas not accessible? This is because satellite communication involves national spectrum control policies, and it is not as simple as just purchasing equipment to use it. This also explains why countries are promoting their own domestic satellite communication projects, such as China's "Hongyun Project."

The development of space communication technology represents a new direction for human internet infrastructure, which may completely change the way remote areas are connected in the future, bridging the digital divide, while also sparking new discussions about orbital congestion and space environment governance.
