Golden Finance reports that on April 2, according to Politico, U.S. President Trump will deliver an important address during prime time on Wednesday evening local time, at which point he will announce that the Iran war, lasting for a month, is about to come to an end. Over the past 24 hours, Trump has conveyed this message in interviews, social media posts, and public remarks, laying the groundwork for the speech he is about to deliver. According to six sources, the speech is expected to have Trump claim that all military objectives have been met. Trump also plans to place harsh blame for the biggest unresolved issue in the war—the restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—on NATO member states. As Trump prepares to deliver the speech, an additional 2,500 U.S. Marine Corps soldiers are on their way to the Middle East. The remarks may be intended primarily to ease voters’ concerns and Wall Street’s anxiety over the ripple effects caused by energy-market conditions and a closure of the straits. Because the conflict is still ongoing, this address gives Trump an opportunity to lay out the war aims—namely the so-called “victory” standard—and how he plans to proceed if ceasefire talks get stuck in a stalemate.
