On September 3, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal citing informed sources, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessenet plans to conduct a series of intensive interviews with candidates for the Fed chair starting Friday. Sources said the interview process will continue into next week, with Bessenet communicating with candidates either in person or via video conference. According to Bessenet and his advisors, there are currently 11 candidates shortlisted, including Fed Governors Waller and Bowman, National Economic Council Director Hassett, and former Fed Governor Warsh. After the interviews, Bessenet will submit a final list of recommended candidates to Trump. Bessenet had previously stated that he would begin the search for a successor to the Fed chair shortly after Labor Day. (Jin10)
