SVM technology leads a new revolution in smart contracts SOON, Solayer, and Sonic promote industry transformation
SVM Technology Innovation: Reshaping Blockchain Execution Environment
With the continuous development of the Web3 ecosystem, blockchain technology is undergoing a profound transformation from "narrative competition" to "execution environment revolution". In this transformation, Solana virtual machine (SVM) is gradually becoming a key force in reconstructing the technological paradigm of smart contract execution.
SVM, as the execution environment for processing transactions, smart contracts, and programs on the Solana network, is specifically designed to address scalability and user experience challenges. Compared to the traditional Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), SVM performs excellently in high-frequency application scenarios, providing extremely fast transaction speeds and lower Gas fees. Its greatest advantage lies in supporting parallel processing of transactions, avoiding the problem of transaction queuing in EVM and significantly enhancing network throughput.
Currently, three notable projects have emerged in the SVM ecosystem: SOON, Solayer, and Sonic SVM, which are jointly promoting the development and application of SVM with different technological paths and market strategies.
SOON's positioning is more like "Movement in SVM", dedicated to bringing SVM to all L1s. It does not rely on the Solana mainnet, but rather provides flexible scalability through the SOON Stack, allowing SVM to be deployed on other mainstream Layer 1s. This design enables any public chain ecosystem's L2 to benefit from the advantages of SVM, effectively addressing the problem of developers having to duplicate development in a multi-chain environment.
Solayer started with staking and gradually shifted to the SVM technology field. By acquiring the technology company FuzzLand, Solayer developed InfiniSVM, aiming to achieve a high performance of over a million TPS and 100 Gbps. The core lies in utilizing hardware acceleration technology to offload key blockchain operations to specialized hardware components for millisecond-level transaction confirmations.
Sonic SVM focuses on game scenarios, built on the HyperGrid framework, allowing developers to write applications in an EVM environment but execute them on Solana. Its unique Guardian Nodes system effectively prevents bot attacks and malicious behaviors, providing a safer interaction environment for gamers. In addition, Sonic has also lowered the entry barrier to Web3 through the TikTok Mini App - SonicX, enabling ordinary users to participate in blockchain gaming activities without needing to understand private keys and on-chain operations.
The development directions of these three projects reflect the urgent market demand for high-performance, low-cost, and user-friendly Blockchain infrastructure. With the continuous evolution of DeFi, blockchain gaming, and social applications, the limitations of traditional EVM have become increasingly apparent, and the innovations of SVM precisely fill this technological gap.
It is foreseeable that the future competition in blockchain technology will focus more on innovations in execution environments. As a pioneer of this revolution, SVM is expected to reshape the entire smart contract execution layer, bringing broader development space to the Web3 ecosystem.
