The U.S. and Canada jointly cracked down on an Ethereum authorization phishing scam involving $4.3 million

The U.S. Secret Service has partnered with the Canadian British Columbia Securities Commission to conduct an operation codenamed “Operation Avalanche” to combat the Ethereum “authorization phishing” scam. The operation identified a total loss of approximately $4.3 million in victims’ wallets and joined forces with Canadian police agencies, crypto exchanges, and blockchain analytics companies to warn scammed wallet holders. The Secret Service said its Washington field office, which provided support to the Canadian side, had interrupted the scam and frozen some of the stolen assets to be returned to victims. (TheBlcok)
