PANews reported on August 10 that the Bank of England and the British Treasury are creating a CBDC Academic Advisory Group (AAG) to provide expertise in the design phase of the digital pound. Members of the group are currently being recruited, and the Academic Advisory Group aims to bring together experts in the fields of finance, economics, and business. AAG will be jointly run by the Bank of England and the HM Treasury. The deadline for relevant academics to apply to join the AAG is September 3, 2023. The AAG may need to change over time to reflect the different issues being discussed and the stages of the design phase.
