Who is the new group "Six Samurai" who want to revive Terra?

Recently, the Terra eco-tokens led by ANC are continuing to rise.

Market data shows that Anchor’s ANC token once reached $0.028, a daily increase of nearly 2 times. The MIR token issued by Mirror Protocol, which also belongs to the Luna ecology, also approached $0.07 within the day, about 3 times higher than the intraday low.

Although the specific reason for this increase is still unclear, it may be related to Terra Classic's potential recovery plan.

Not long ago, 6 senior full-stack engineers from Terra Allies, co-led by Bilbo Baggins and Solid Snake, came up with a Q3 spending proposal for Terra Classic.

Who are the Six Samurai?

Terra Allies is an informal organization that intends to revive the Terra blockchain. The self-proclaimed "Six Samurai" developers are trying to bring value to the Terra Classic blockchain in order to push the chain to where it should be. The Six Samurai are all from the LUNC community, and they all consider themselves “passionate LUNC Holders and community members dedicated to reviving and decentralizing the blockchain.”

Terra Allies' senior full-stack engineering team known as the "Six Samurai" presented their Q3 spending proposal, emphasizing their deep passion as LUNC holders. The team is firmly committed to achieving a "true renaissance of the ecosystem," committing effort and expertise to make it happen.

According to the description of the proposal, Six Samurai has planned a series of tasks to complete Terra’s recovery, including: migrating from Columbus-5 to Columbus-6, updating the Cosmos SDK twice to catch up with the current Cosmos version, Establish the USTC test network to prepare for the launch of the Q4 market module, and complete the launch of the Alliance module, FeeShare module and other functions. In addition to leaders Bilbo Baggins and Solid Snake, the team includes Not Josh C, Mango Chutney, Chopstick Sensei, Mycetism.

According to the description of the budget, these developers have more than ten years of combined programming experience, and the community is already fully familiar with them. Due to the current state of the LUNC community, **this budget has significantly reduced regular compensation expenses. **The 4 developers are paid $5500 per month and the 2 leaders are paid $7500. If the proposal is passed, the entire team can devote one quarter to the development of Terra full-time, and will not leave halfway.

Therefore, to complete the development in the third quarter, labor costs and operating expenses of $5,000 are required, totaling a budget of $116,000.

Terra "two sons win the heir", where does the original development team go?

Earlier this month, the L1 Task Force team released the v2.1.0 upgrade proposal, which has planned a series of upgrades and maintenance for Terra Classic, with the aim of improving the performance and security of the chain. Specifically, it includes optimizing transaction processing speed, enhancing authentication and transaction confirmation mechanisms, fixing vulnerabilities, and more.

The upgrade roadmap of the Six Samurai is different from that of L1. They also stated bluntly in their proposal, “Our proposal competes directly with the proposals around L1. We believe that competition and choice are beneficial to the ecosystem. We firmly believe in the free market. "

For users who haven't heard about Terra Classic before, Terra's diverse team may be a little confusing. In fact, the "Six Samurai" is not the first team to make a proposal to try to maintain Terra Classic. **After the Terra fork was completed, the development of the original Terra Classic was not interrupted, and the community has been advancing. **

As early as May 2022, Do Kwon, the founder of Terra, proposed the "Rebuild Terra Ecosystem Plan", forking the Terra chain into the new Terra 2.0 chain and the original Terra Classic. However, the Terra Classic community did not give up on this chain, and the community formed a development team.

Subsequently, Terra Classic continued to develop and iterate. In August 2022, Terra Classic was upgraded to V2 2, and the LUNC staking function was launched. In December, the IBC channel from the Terra Classic network to Osmosis was restarted by the developer, and the connection with the Cosmos ecosystem was reopened. In the same month, the 11030 proposal separated Rebel Station from TFL backend assets and infrastructure, Terra Classic was completely separated from Terraform Labs and Do Kwon, and Terra Classic turned to full autonomy.

At present, the Terra Classic community is implementing a relatively medium-to-long-term technical iteration and upgrade roadmap for L1 Task, and has formed the community's own L1 Task Force team around this route.

And as the "Six Samurai" said, **its governance proposal will conflict with the development plan of the L1 team. And the community will be forced to make a choice. **

What does the community think?

Judging by the feedback from community members, the LUNC community has mixed feelings about The Six Samurai.

Some community users pointed out that Bilbo, the leader of the "Six Samurai", has his own job, and they questioned whether Bilbo can devote his energy to Terra. Community user BullBoss 5 expressed doubts about it: "Aren't you also working in the quantitative team? How do you manage these two positions?"

Community member Fragwuerdig shared the same opinion, "Are you planning to directly lead the L1 team while the quant team is working? I asked you in a private message on Twitter, but you seem unwilling (or unable) to answer this question."

Of course, some community members also expressed support for this proposal. Community member Adri Prans believes, "This is a more reasonable proposal and roadmap. I will vote YES, and I hope this chain can return to the competition between DEFI and the encryption industry."

There are also community members who hope that the Terra community can bridge differences and work together. jook knights wrote on the governance forum, "I hope to see more cooperation between this team and the current L1 team."
