Inventory of 11 ETHGlobal Waterloo Hackathon Finalist Projects

On June 25th, the ETHGlobal Waterloo theme hackathon held in Waterloo, Canada officially ended.

This hackathon finally selected 11 finalist projects, involving AI, NFT, games, payment, DAO, infrastructure and other fields. These projects will jointly share the $225,000 bonus provided by ETHGlobal and 24 projects including Polygon, Worldcoin, Filecoin, and The Graph. Next, let's learn about the 11 shortlisted projects.

Inventory of 11 ETHGlobal Waterloo Hackathon Final Projects

AquaNet

Winning homepage:

AquaNet is an AI-driven, NFT-based social network. It can make NFTs "live" and develop a unique personality.

AquaNet leverages the ERC-6551 standard, allowing NFTs to be "born" in AI-driven social media networks and keep a record of their activities. Within the network, each qualified NFT can create its own account, and GPT-3.5 will help them generate a unique personality based on the existing metadata of the NFT, such as user name, profile, and tone of voice. They will be able to autonomously post messages, express interest, and share information about themselves.

Smarter Contract

Winning homepage:

Smarter Contract is a smart contract performance optimization solution based on the Hyperlane cross-chain protocol. The key components of the Smarter Contract include three parts: GasEstimator, Function Dispatcher, and Result Aggregator. The basic operating logic is as follows:

For a set of smart contracts, GasEstimator first evaluates which chain is the most cost-effective for each function at any given point in time by simulating contract functions; Function Dispatcher then leverages the Hyperlane cross-chain protocol to delegate these functions to Execute for each optimal chain; Result Aggregator will finally unify the results to ensure effective execution and combined output.

Through this program, Smarter Contract hopes to unlock more of the potential of the blockchain and push the blockchain to continue to develop in the direction of user-friendliness, ease of access, and cost-effectiveness.

Fukuro

Winning homepage:

Fukuro is an auction market created using EIP-6551, where users can place orders or bid for various "Fukuro".

The idea of "Fukuro" comes from the Japanese concept of "Fukubukuro", a mysterious bag sold at a set price. "Fukuro" can contain anything that an Ethereum address can own, including NFTs, ERC-20 tokens, and more. This allows it to trade a wide variety of assets, including art collections, card sets and even curated portfolios.

Roll a Mate

Winning homepage:

Roll a Mate is a payment rollups protocol built on a memory pool (mempool), which allows users to send and receive ETH at a transaction cost of zero to 4 cents. Economic transaction needs.

Roll a Mate operates a mempool to validate and broadcast low-gas transactions, which are then included in sidechain sortbook rollups (no user interaction with it) and may be deleted (zero cost). Users who use the Roll a Mate payment protocol only need to pay gas fees in two cases, when depositing and withdrawing ETH.

In general, using the Roll a Mate payment protocol, Ethereum mainnet users can deposit 1 ETH through one gas consumption, and then use the balance to complete hundreds of consumptions, and the average cost of each consumption is no more than 4 cents; Conversely, for merchants using this protocol, they only need to pay the gas fee once when they withdraw money collectively.

Piggybank 6551 NFT

Winning homepage:

Piggybank 6551 NFT can be understood as a "piggy piggy bank" on the chain.

Users can mint Piggybank NFT and then deposit ETH to it through the payment function, or send ETH directly to the ERC-6551 address of the NFT. The colors, text labels, and attributes of the NFT metadata are constantly updated as the ETH balance accumulates.

If the user wants to withdraw the ETH in it, the only way is to destroy the NFT - either call the burn function, or manually send the NFT to its ERC-6551 address.

Smile DAO

Winning homepage:

Smile DAO is an experiment in zero-knowledge machine learning (ZKML) that attempts to verify the output of a machine learning (ML) model given some secret input.

The idea of Smile DAO is to let front-end App users take a photo of themselves smiling, run it through an ML model and create a proof of process, all within the client. Smile DAO then deploys a validator on-chain, and once a user has a proof, they can post it on-chain and mint an NFT. This NFT will have various rights such as proposals and voting within Smile DAO.

a(i)udit

Winning homepage:

A(i)udit is a developer-oriented platform designed to help developers build safer and more secure smart contracts. Through A(i)udit, developers can use natural language to write, review and deploy smart contracts, and conduct any type of testing on any chain.

A(i)udit is based on the open source LangChain framework, which can enable large language models such as ChatGPT to perform tasks of different complexity. A(i)udit currently supports ChatGPT 3.5, but the project hopes that users will eventually be able to use what they want Any large language model you want.

Tokenbound Titans

Winning homepage:

Tokenbound Titans is an ERC-6551 build combined with a dynamically generated NFT NPC game. Players are the owners of NPCs in the form of NFTs, and each NPC will have different abilities and characteristics.

The feature of this game is that players can use NPCs to PK each other. The algorithm for calculating the battle results is off-chain, but can be verified using ZK-proof. When the battle is won, the player's NPC can be upgraded to enhance the original attributes such as health, attack, speed and defense, and unlock new abilities or combinations. As NFTs level up, they become more powerful and versatile, an evolution system that adds depth and persistence to gameplay, incentivizing players to strategize, adapt, and continually improve their NFTs to dominate the game .

zBay

Winning homepage:

zBay aims to completely change the status quo of the e-commerce industry by decentralizing eBay. The project hopes to eliminate middlemen (eBay's annual revenue is as high as 10 billion US dollars) and provide everyone with a safe, transparent and efficient transaction market.

zBay supports seamless import of data and goodwill from eBay, supports secure hosting and XMTP encrypted chat, and will use UMA's optimistic oracle to resolve disputes transparently.

Token Rescue Buddy

Winning homepage:

Token Rescue Buddy wants to solve the problem of accidental loss of tokens that are often sent to the wrong chain. The project utilizes CREATE 2, with a multi-chain data aggregator and an intuitive React frontend, to make recovering tokens sent to the wrong chain very simple.

The multi-chain future is here, but with some unexpected friction. Unlike the EOA wallet, the smart contract wallet can only be deployed on one chain at a time, which has caused many accidental losses (such as Wintermute once mistakenly transferred 20 million US dollars of OP tokens), and the utility of Token Rescue Buddy is in multiple Smart contract wallets are deployed to the same address on different chains, thus effectively avoiding such losses.

For CEXs, Token Rescue Buddy's service is also expected to be a perfect choice, as long as they technically have the key, they can easily and orderly recover tokens sent by users to wrong addresses.

Copix

Winning homepage:

Copix is a public canvas built on the Polygon testnet Mumbai that allows verified real human users to co-create artwork on the same canvas.

On this canvas, each pixel is an NFT, and verified World ID holders can modify metadata to create art by changing the color of pixels. Once a color is selected, the user owns the pixel they just edited (with a 2-minute cooldown limit on consecutive pixel edits by the same user), plus access to the full pixel metadata history, including past colors and contributors.
