LayerZero and Polyhedra Network strategically integrated zkLightClient to jointly launch a zero-knowledge proof cross-chain messaging client

According to LayerZero's official social platform news, LayerZero has integrated the zero-knowledge proof light client output by the Polyhedra Network team. The integrated zero-knowledge proof applied to LayerZero will improve the security, performance and cross-chain interoperability of all chains it supports. Reduce costs and promote the ecological development of unified cross-chain interoperable digital assets.

1. Use ZKP to solve cross-chain interoperability

LayerZero is a chain-wide interoperability protocol that supports cross-chain messaging. Applications built using blockchain technology (decentralized applications) can seamlessly connect to over 30 of its supported blockchains using the LayerZero protocol. This allows dApp users to safely and efficiently interact with cross-chain assets.

Polyhedra Network is building a next-generation infrastructure for Web3 interoperability by utilizing advanced Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technology. The Polyhedra Network team designed and developed the Polyhedra zkLightClient technology based on the LayerZero protocol, a cutting-edge solution that provides a secure and efficient cross-chain infrastructure for the interoperability of Layer-1 and Layer-2 blockchain networks.

2. Integrate Polyhedra zkLightClient technology into LayerZero

Polyhedra's zkLightClient technology has been fully integrated into LayerZero's message protocol, so application developers can use zero-knowledge proof technology without barriers. Developers can easily use zkLightClient to build cross-chain applications on top of LayerZero through LayerZero's extensive developer tools and community support.

LayerZero's ULNv2 verification library relies on two parts: Oracles and Relayers to pass information between on-chain endpoints. When LayerZero sends information from chain A to chain B, the information is routed through the endpoint on chain A to the ULNv2 verification library. The ULNv2 library notifies the Oracle and Relayer information and its target chain. The Oracle forwards the packet's hash to an endpoint on Chain B, and the Relayer submits the packet to verify its hash on-chain and deliver the information.

On-chain light clients allow the sending chain's set of validators to prove to the receiving chain what happened on their chain. The light client adds stronger security to the LayerZero message protocol by combining with other libraries. Due to the large transaction log (necessary for proofs, but not for the application itself), the cost of on-chain transaction verification is prohibitive, possibly up to $50 million to $100 million.

The LayerZero-based zkLightClient technology built by Polyhedra Network takes advantage of the compression capability of ZKP technology, and greatly reduces the delay of on-chain verification and reduces costs by using an efficient ZKP protocol. Additionally, multiple transaction verifications can be batched into a single zero-knowledge proof to further reduce costs.

3. Realize zero-knowledge proof cross-chain interoperability

The zero-knowledge proof cooperation between LayerZero and Polyhedra Network will upgrade LayerZero to ZK LayerZero, which is the first zero-knowledge proof light client, zero-knowledge proof cross-chain message passing and zero-knowledge proof oracle machine, building a blockchain for the blockchain Zero-knowledge proof, secure, efficient and cost-effective interoperable ecosystem.

In the future, LayerZero and Polyhedra Network will cooperate extensively in the application of zero-knowledge proof technology in cross-chain interoperability, through zero-knowledge proof to improve the security and performance of cross-chain interoperability, and reduce the cost of cross-chain interoperability, so as to play Unlocking the full potential of the interoperability of the entire blockchain and Web3 world, this collaboration will have a profound impact on both parties and the interoperability of the entire Web3.
