Taiyuan high-rise building catches fire, resulting in 1 death and 25 injuries; firefighters and rescue bureau staff respond exclusively
Ask AI · What is the relationship between fire safety reporting work and fire prevention?
Multiple perspectives exposed! A high-rise building in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan, Shanxi caught fire, with someone witnessing up close and exclaiming “So scary.”
On the evening of March 28, a high-rise building near Qinxian North Street in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province caught fire. The visible flames have now been extinguished. A reporter from China News Weekly learned from the Shanxi Provincial Emergency Management Department that the fifth round of search and rescue has been launched, and one person has been found without vital signs at the scene. The number of injuries is still changing. According to Xinhua News Agency, one person has died and 25 others are injured, including 7 seriously.
Staff from Huanghe Renjia, a shop on Qinxian North Street, told China News Weekly that around 8 p.m., staff inside the store noticed smoke spreading behind the shop and immediately evacuated.
According to their on-site observation, the fire may have started at a Sichuan cuisine restaurant behind a commercial-residential building on Qinxian North Street, about 120 meters walking distance from their shop. The interviewee said that initially only the Sichuan restaurant caught fire, but the fire later spread to the residential-commercial building, which contains dining shops and apartment-style residences.
A relevant staff member from the Taiyuan Xiaodian District Fire Rescue Bureau told China News Weekly that they received the alarm at 7:52 p.m. on the 28th, arrived at the scene at 7:57 p.m., and the flames were extinguished by 8:27 p.m. Currently, staff are still on-site handling the situation, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
