The GEO Group, Inc. is a company based in Florida. Its subsidiaries specialize in leasing and managing prisons, detention centers, and reentry facilities. The company provides core services and youth services across communities in the United States, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Its leasing and operational scope includes a wide range of detention facilities, including high, medium, and low-security prisons, immigration detention centers, low-security detention centers, and community reentry services. As mentioned below, the company terminated its agreements related to residential treatment and healthcare facilities with a real estate investment trust (REIT) as of December 31, 2012, and no longer provides mental health and residential treatment services. The company continues to use family facilities to provide psychological counseling, education, or treatment for detainees with substance abuse issues. It also offers innovative compliance technology, leading monitoring services, evidence-based supervision, and treatment programs for parolees, probationers, and suspects in the community. Additionally, the company has an exclusive supply contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to provide supervision and reporting services for its “Enhanced Supervision Appearance Program,” aimed at increasing court appearances of non-detained foreign nationals. The company develops new equipment under this contract, leveraging its expertise and experience to design, build, and invest in some of the most advanced facilities in the country to maximize safety and efficiency. Under the same contract, the company provides secure transportation services for offenders and inmates domestically, and internationally through its joint venture GEO Amey PECS Ltd. (“GEOAmey”) in the UK.
