US-Iran Ceasefire for Two Weeks Boosts Global Stock Markets

On April 8, the US and Iran reached a two-week ceasefire agreement, leading to a significant surge in stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region. The Taiwan Weighted Index rose by 4.61%, closing at 34,761.38 points. The Nikkei 225 Index increased by 5.39%, ending at 56,308.42 points. The South Korean KOSPI Index climbed by 6.87%, closing at 5,872.34 points. The MSCI Asia-Pacific Index saw its gains expand to 5%, while the Sri Lanka Stock Exchange Composite Index rose by 4.2%. Both the Indian SENSEX and NIFTY indices increased by 3.7%. In Europe, the Euro Stoxx 50 futures rose by 5.3%, the German DAX futures increased by 5.2%, and the FTSE 100 futures were up by 2.9%.
