Indonesia strongly condemns the attack on peacekeeping personnel in Lebanon
The Indonesian government confirmed on the 30th that two more Indonesian personnel serving on a mission in southern Lebanon were killed in an attack. Indonesia strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting UN peacekeepers. On the 30th, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon said that that day, a peacekeeping force vehicle in southern Lebanon was destroyed by an “unknown explosion,” killing two peacekeepers and injuring two others. This was the second time in less than 24 hours that the UNIFIL force suffered casualties. In the previous incident, one Indonesian peacekeeper on duty was killed and three others were injured. UNIFIL said on the 30th that the intentional attack on peacekeepers is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and may constitute a war crime. Since fighting between Lebanon and Israel reignited in early March, UNIFIL has been attacked multiple times. (CCTV News)
