Red Star Capital Bureau, April 7: Today, the official website of Fuhua International Group published a obituary. Group Honorary Chairman and president of the China Zitan Museum, Chen Lihua, passed away in Beijing on April 5 after an illness, at the age of 85.

Chen Lihua is an outstanding female entrepreneur. In 1988, she founded an industrial investment company in Hong Kong—Fuhua International Group.

Fuhua International Group is a diversified industrial investment enterprise. Its pillar industries cover real estate, cultural arts, asset operation and management, finance, healthcare, and more. The group has invested more than HK$4 billion to build the Jinbao Commercial Street. Currently, its strategic footprint has expanded to Beijing, Tianjin, Hainan, Guangdong, Anhui, and other places, and it is actively opening up overseas markets.

A Hurun Institute report titled “2019 Hurun China 500 Top Private Enterprises” shows that Fuhua International ranked 132nd with a market value of RMB 50 billion. In 2023 and 2026, the group was included in “Hurun China 500 Top Private Enterprises.”

Red Star Capital Bureau notes that as a legendary Chinese businesswoman, Chen Lihua had topped the list of China’s mainland female richest individuals for many consecutive years. In 2025, with assets of RMB 40 billion, she ranked 82nd on the “New Fortune 500—Entrepreneurship List.” In the “Hurun Global Self-Made Female Entrepreneurs List” released in March 2026, her wealth was RMB 47 billion.

According to incomplete statistics, over the years Chen Lihua has funded sports, education, healthcare, and disaster relief totaling tens of millions of RMB. As reported by China News Service, in 2023 she donated 10k winter-proof cotton-padded garments to the earthquake-hit areas in Gansu through the Beijing Zitan Cultural Foundation.

Public records show that Chen Lihua’s husband is the well-known actor Chi Zhongrui, who played the role of Tang Seng in the 1986 version of “Journey to the West.” The two married in 1990.
