Just stumbled upon one of the most disturbing cases in crypto history. Back in March 2022, Sylwester Suszek, the co-founder and former president of BitBay—Poland's biggest crypto exchange at the time—vanished without a trace. He was only 34.

The last time anyone saw him was at a fuel depot after a business meeting. Surveillance cameras conveniently malfunctioned that exact day. Police launched an extensive search but found nothing. Four days later, his phone connected to a network along a highway, but that was it.

What happened next is even darker. Sylwester Suszek's sister Nicole started investigating on her own and received threatening messages claiming he'd been kidnapped and murdered. Then came a voice recording—supposedly Sylwester asking for help. The message demanded 12 million PLN in bitcoin be sent to a specific address. The voice sounded like him but somehow distorted, electronic. The threat included: "This is not a joke, there will be a photo of the body in a week."

Nicole didn't pay. Instead, more recordings arrived with threats of mutilation and pleas to bring him home for Easter. She's been receiving threats herself ever since.

It's been years now. Sylwester Suszek has never been found. No body, no solid leads. The case remains open, and Nicole continues searching despite the danger. It's a haunting reminder that even in the crypto space, real-world dangers are very much real. The disappearance of Sylwester Suszek is one of those stories that stays with you—a mystery that the crypto community should never forget.
